About Me

NIP Member: 233871   |   1nP Professional 13005

I work with adult clients via the mental health care network Stichting 1nP. I am a ‘basic’ psychologist, which means that I always work in collaboration with a BIG-registered mental health professional (regiebehandelaar) at 1nP, who can provide you with medication, if indicated, and who carries the ultimate responsibility for your treatment with me. Next to providing therapy, I am completing my PhD in psychology at Leiden University, where I investigate the effects and mechanisms of psychedelic substances to ultimately better understand their impact on mental health.

My Personal Background

I was born into a German family, but I grew up moving internationally every 3-5 years. I lived in Belgium, Germany, the US, and Russia. My lifetime of moving allows me to empathize with experiences of grief, instability, and loneliness. It also allows me to better understand and adapt to different cultural identities
In addition, I identify as queer. As a member of the LGBTQIA+ community, I relate to feelings of shame, rejection, and fear that come with belonging to a stigmatized minority.
I now live in Amsterdam, a city which has given me the taste of belonging that I have been searching for. Through my experiences, I’ve learned to value honest communication, respect and acceptance above all. I’ve also learned the value of personal therapy and attribute much of my personal growth and professionalism to my own therapeutic process.
