My Approach
Integrative Therapy can represent several kinds of integration.
Integrating difficult experiences and parts of the self.
Integrating into the Dutch culture / integrating cultural identities.
Integrating various therapy techniques to best serve your individual needs.
You and I work together to explore and map out what’s going on. We may look for clues in how you grew up, in your daily behavior and interactions, in your thoughts and emotional experiences, in the way you perceive yourself, and so on. I will help you express and make sense of complex and overwhelming experiences. My primary therapeutic approach is Emotion-Focused Therapy (learn more here). This means I tend to focus on your present-moment emotional experience and how different parts of yourself interact to maintain this state. However, my toolbox also includes theories and techniques from psychodynamic therapy, schema therapy, existential therapy, and cognitive-behavioral therapy. With your feedback, I will apply the approach(es) that work best for you.
